Thanks to its extensive facilities, as well as open-spaces and wildlife, the award-winning Rother Valley Country Park, owned and managed by Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council, is of regional importance and will act as an excellent training base for a wide variety of sporting activities.
It was designed and opened 24 years ago for the people of the area to enjoy the countryside and watersports facilities, including a one kilometre long main lake. The park has continued to grow under the leadership of a forward-thinking council and now attracts around 800,000 visitors a year.
It plays host to a vast array of large events from international Jet Ski to the British Disabled Triathlon Championships and the Yorkshire stage of the Tour of Britain Cycle Race.
The 300 hectares, set in beautiful countryside, provide all the facilities guest require, including cafe, toilets, meeting rooms, watersports, playgrounds, craft units and a full ranger service.
The park is cycle-friendly and features a number of extensive cycle paths which are both uncluttered and perfect for fitness training. For relaxation, both lake and river fishing is available, with most British species of fish available for catching.
The park is close to a number of amenities, including numerous shopping outlets, including traditional markets, large retail stores and charming speciality shops, as well as attractions including leisure facilities and restaurants.
Rotherham town centre, home of the medieval Rotherham Minster, described as one of the best example of its kind in the country, is 15km and the city of Sheffield is 14.5km away.
For culture, Rotherham features an intimate theatre featuring productions from both celebrities and local amateur dramatics societies, as well as an award-nominated museum, art gallery and large, fully stocked library.
Just a few kilometres from the town centre, the historic Roche Abbey and Conisbrough Castle feature some of the finest ancient architecture and beautiful walks available in South Yorkshire, with the world famous Ulley Reservoir and Thrybergh Country Park also offering perfect countryside to relax or exercise in.
With a varied nightlife, the peace and tranquillity of Rother Valley Country Park is contrasted by the excitement of Rotherham's nightlife, with a range of nightclubs, pubs, restaurants and cafes to suit all tastes.

- By air, 34km from Robin Hood Airport (Doncaster Sheffield) or 69km from East Midlands Airport.
- By sea, 96km from the nearest port of Hull and Rail - 14.5km from the nearest mainline station, Sheffield.
