Shaw Lane Community Sports Association provides high quality facilities for recreation or other leisure time activities for children, adults and the public in general. The site has been in existence since 1862 and, since the arrival of Barnsley Rugby Union Football Club in 1996, has enjoyed a complete refurbishment bringing top class sporting facilities to the people of Barnsley.Our primary aim is to promote enjoyable community participation in healthy recreation particularly by the provision of facilities for the playing and coaching of Rugby, Squash, Cricket, Archery, Football, Bowling and Road Running.General facilities include conference, seminar and function rooms and staff are available to help with room bookings, planning, catering and general support. The site is in a convenient town centre location and is spread over 10 hectares. Sporting facilities include:- large archery range- full range of sports pitches- excellent changing facilities- new all-weather training pitch- fully equipped gym- five excellent squash courts- good quality cricket pitch- six all-weather cricket practice nets- social facilities available- clubhouse facilities including licensed bar and catering facilitiesThe club is continually looking to increase the standard of facility and accommodation and a programme of continual upgrade is in place.
