Ponds Forge International Sports Centre will once again host the world's leading divers from the best international diving teams including the likes of Great Britain, USA and China. Current World Champion Tom Daley will lead the British challenge with the likes of Peter Waterfield, Rebecca Gallantree and Nick Robinson-Baker also competing for honours.
Daley, who secured silver in the 10m Platform at the 2009 FINA Diving World Series before becoming the country's youngest World Champion when he won gold in Rome later that summer, commented:
"It's an exciting and daring sport to watch and Great Britain have a strong team so with the fans cheering us on there are definitely some good medal opportunities."
With 15 adult and 7.50 child weekend tickets, demand is expected to be high. Family deals are also available, starting at 25 per day or 50 for the whole weekend. British Swimming, who are organising the event, have also included special group offers designed to make the event even more accessible to Diving Clubs from around the UK.
The British team enjoyed further success at the Sheffield leg in 2009 with Ben Swain and Nick Robinson-Baker winning bronze on their way to claiming the overall Series title in the 3m Synchro. Sister duo, Helen and Carol Galashan also finished a credible fourth place in the women's 10m Platform.
British Swimming Chief Executive David Sparkes said: "The FINA Diving World Series is, for British Swimming, a major event when our elite divers place themselves head-to-head against the very best in the world and this event is critical in our preparation for the all important Olympics in 2012."
"I hope that having the opportunity to see such amazing athletes competing on their doorstep, will inspire young people in Sheffield to have a go and take up diving themselves."
Lucy Crickmore, UK Sport's Events Consultant, said: "The Li-Ning FINA Diving World Series is a great opportunity for the fans to come out and watch some of the best divers in the world compete in this country, and it's great preparation for the Brits to dive in front of a home crowd leading up to 2012."
Gary Clifton, Major Sports Events and Programme 2012 Manager at Sheffield City Council said "Sheffield is proud to host the prestigious Li-Ning FINA Diving World Series for the fourth year running. Previous events have given a serious boost to the local economy by attracting significant numbers of visitors to the city during the competition weekend."
