The Amateur Boxing Association of England is based in Sheffield at the English Institute of Sport, as is the GB amateur boxing squad.
The Amateur Boxing Association of England chose Sheffield as the permanent centre for their England and GB operations in 2006, having been attracted to the city's outstanding sports facilities and long tradition of top class boxing.
Sheffield, also known as the Steel City, will now host international competitions and training camps as well as continuing to be a vibrant regional centre of club boxing.
Boxing is vibrant at all levels from junior through to professional levels. The city boasts fourteen affiliated amateur clubs with 180 'carded' amateurs and is home to current National Champions including Sharon Holford (Female Senior) and Steve Barnes (National Junior).
